Recap of last week Sermon:

During the last sermon, we treated a topic on "Spiritual corruption" to understand what it takes for your spirit to be corrupted since this is more or less a hidden phenomenon that manifest in the physical even sometimes with a latent benevolent glamour that seems to be real. Corruption in the spiritual is a very sensitive issue and has eaten deep through so many individual at all level either knowingly or unknowingly. When the spirit of a man is corrupted so many things will be negatively affected in his life, both physically and spiritually which will therefore determine the course of his action except God cleanse him and restore him back

Preamble:

This week, we shall be looking at the topic "Fear of the unknown" to get us cautioned against being entangled due to fear and worries of life, about what is to come and to teach us how to stand in terms of tribulations because there are many that has fallen due to fear of the unknown and finally got themselves trapped, either about the basic needs of man, or marriage, or job, or children and so on. Fear is a very great tool in the hand of the devil because he knows that when is being engaged the target will be confused and even God won’t be able to work through them at His best.  Please sit back and enjoy this great lecture that will change your life forever.   

Introduction:

Fear, as gripping as it may be is an emotional or stimulus responds which comes with anxious or anxiety reactions. One of the key noticeable factors to consider during such exercise is the displacement of normalcy which therefore results to worries and confusion of thought and desire since the future is not known. The fear of the unknown future or what a situation or thing will result to had entangled so many and eventually created series of other problems that could have been avoided. Fear is an action which is sometimes beyond human ability or comprehension and needs to be handed over to a superior or divine being since the future is unknown and it will take God to see into the deep.

Man is a spiritual material which God had only used to actualize His purpose of creation here on earth and therefore, When a man is harboring or exercising fear over a situation, his spirit also picks after such characteristics and therefore becomes week over the intended course of action. This is why the bible admonish us to be strong and be courageous at all times and equally fill with the joy of the lord so that our spirit will be lively and be bold in other to bear witness with the spirit of God in combating the enemy for a conquerors affair [Joshua 1: 9, Nehemiah 8: 10]. 

The spirit of God is never a timid spirit and so, if God want to carry a man to succeed on a certain course or to conquer the enemy as the case maybe, His spirit bears witness with that of the man but when the spirit of the man is being fearful over such course then the spirit of God that is expected to carry him to succeed will always be frustrated in such circumstances even to act accordingly.

Our bible text is taken from the book of [Romans 8: 15-16 KJV] which states that “for ye have not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry abba father. And verse 16 says, The spirit itself bearest witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.” Bearing witness is to acknowledge your readiness and seal to combat the enemy with the power that you have receive through our lord, Jesus Christ. Take for instance, in a situation where you find yourself trapped or entangled and you have someone who has come to help you out, if you are not being careful to always know the thought of the one that has come to help you at every stage so that you will be on the same page with him as regards his plans, you may be the one that will be frustrating his effort in bringing you out of such entanglement and so, this is exactly how the holy spirit of God whom had come to help you work.

Our God is the all sufficient and is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that which we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us [Ephesians 3: 20] and so, He needs your full cooperation to help you which will come as a form of service to Him in the area of obedience, boldness and commitment. Fear is the number one thing that can create some conflict of thought between you and the spirit of God that has come to help you because like I said above, the spirit of God needs to bear witness with your spirit to enable him act accordingly in such a critical situation but fear will displace normalcy of thought and begin to eject confusion and negative thought into your heart which will therefore negate or put in jeopardy the plan of God.

Fear is the greatest tool in the hand of the devil and once successfully engaged, he will gain appropriate entrance and take hold of the heart of the man [Proverb 29: 25]. This is why the bible admonish us to always allow the joy of the lord fill up our heart even within the time of trial so that our spirit can equally pick after such characteristics and be lively [Romans 12: 12]. Fear also, usually comes from worries, when there is uncertainty towards our endeavors in life but our lord Jesus Christ has reaffirmed this to us that we should not worry about the needs and endeavor of life but to diligently seek the kingdom of God first and all these things will be added unto it according to the book of [Matthew 6: 25-34 NIV] and verse 31-34 says: “so do not worry saying what shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what shall we wear, for the pagans runs after all these things and your heavenly father knows you need them, but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well, therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself, each day has enough trouble of its own”

The worries of life especially for all our endeavors had induced such level of erratic fear into our society and every individual respectively even among believers but our lord Jesus Christ has assured us according to the above scripture not to worry about anything but to cast all fear to God by seeking Him first and He will take care of all our expectations because when a man is worried, his expectations becomes a thing of much concern and which could get him entangled if care is not taken. Worrying and anxiousness is a tool in the hand of the devil which he uses as a means to gain due entrance into man and this is why the bible admonished us not to be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petitions with thanksgiving present your request to God and the peace of God which transcend all understanding, will guide your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus [Philippians’ 4: 6-7]. Let’s look at some spiritual implications of fear or worries and how it relates to our daily life endeavors because the spiritual control the physical. 

1. Spiritual timidity:  

Like I have explained above, the first thing that will happen to a man when he is harboring fear or worries in his heart is that his spirit will also pick after such characteristics and began to develop fear over such related course of action [2 Timothy 1: 7, Romans 8: 15 KJV]. A fearful spirit can never allow God works perfectly through him because he may even be the one working against God’s plan within since fear comes with confusion and when a man is confused, he will hardly find his direction. This is why it is important that the very first therapy that people in this category need is the word of God which will therefore sanctify their soul, and light up every dark area of their life and giveth due understanding accordingly [Psalm 119: 130].

Spiritual timidity is one of the big problems of so many individuals and this is due to lack of adequate knowledge in God which can only be coveted through the word of God because knowledge in God giveth power and understanding even unto the simple [Proverb 4: 7]. A fearful heart can never please God and this is why God has commanded us to have faith in Him first before anything so as to remove any form of fear within us and allow Him work through us to bring the enemy to shame. When a man is on a very serious assignment for God, he must be very bold in other for God to work through him in combating the enemy and whatsoever things that will stand against him on his way because the spirit of God is a spirit of boldness and cannot condone timidity. This was why God duly instruct His servant, Joshua, to be very bold and courageous because he will lead the children of Israel to canal land [Joshua 1: 6-9]. I pray the almighty God grant you the grace to live up to a level of boldness with Him in Jesus name.

2. Spiritual trap: 

Another thing that happen when a man is exercising fear and worries is that because he is confuse over a certain course, he is bound to get himself trapped or entangled since a fearful heart is always a weak one which could definitely obey every voice that comes his ways and ended up being hooked or being a slave to the authority being obeyed [Proverb 29: 25]. The primary objective of the devil is lordship [Matthew 4: 8-10] which set the basis for his major business on earth as stealing, killing and destroying [John 10: 10] and therefore when a man is fearful in heart, the devil first of all seek such category of people to brain wash or saturate them with information or things that will make them be more fearful so they can seek for cover under him and thereby enslave them even by his demonic belief. 

Like i said above, Man as a spiritual material to which God has used to actualize His purpose of creation on earth and therefore, every man to man relationship is acknowledged in the spiritual which simply denote that when a man is fearful and finally took cover under the advice of a fellow man, then a spiritual communication has also been engaged and depending on the adviser, if he is a godly man then the spirit of God can work through him to provide a word of light to help suppress the oppression of the fearful in heart and likewise, if the adviser is not of God then the devil can also work through him to provide a word of faith which is only a deceit hiding under sheep’s clothing to the one being oppressed and therefore lord over him. And I pray that the lord God will help you out of every trap you have found yourself in the past by reason of a fearful heart in Jesus name.

3. Inability to hear from God:  

When the heart of man is obsessed with so many worries or is being fearful, he may find it hard to hear from God appropriately because God speak better through inner voice to a settled heart, especially that which is saturated with the love of God [Act 11: 12, Act 13: 2, ] or except through dreams and vision when in a deep or brief sleep but which do not come cheaply most time and therefore require your ability in appropriating godly spiritual practice. Hearing from God while awake or within a state of consciousness require a more stable state of mind without harboring any form of fear, worries, or stress so as not to develop a conflict of thought within you [Hebrew 3: 7-10]. I pray the lord Jesus Christ gives you the grace and ability to hear from Him in Jesus name.

Conclusion:

We have heard from above how a fearful heart can be prone or liable to satanic lordship and the three major spiritual implications of a man harboring fear, worries and stress in his heart as spiritual timidity, spiritual trap and inability to hear from God through inner voice. I will therefore advice you to cast your fear, worries and stress of life to Jesus Christ and hope on Him for a greater future in all area of your life and He will never disappoint you [Matthew 11: 28] knowing fully well that all these fear, worries and stress are a great tool in the hand of the devil which he therefore use to demoralize an individual in other to have a thorough entrance through them.

Jesus Christ, Himself speaking through the scripture above [Matthew 11: 28] which says “come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest, take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light”

Our lord Jesus Christ also affirm us that when we passionately seek him  and the kingdom of God first then every other things that would have been causing such fear or put us in that worrisome mode will be added to our service to Him even without much stress, so why worry? [Matthew 6: 31-34].

Confession: 

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour and you are convinced that you need him to come into your life so you can also tap into the grace available through shedding of his blood, and equally partake of the effectiveness of his wrath and the blessing that comes with it, and that you are sure, you are ready to repent from all those sin of fornication, adultery, lying, sexual immorality, pride, jealousy, hatred, idolatry, selfish ambition, witchcraft, impurity and debauchery, dissensions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and the likes, then locate a quiet place, be sober and be on your knees, and make this little confession but remember to be sure of what you are doing, so that you will not be using God to play, when you respect him and give him honour, he will also honour you in the sight of men (Matthew 6: 6).

Lord Jesus, i come with total humbleness of heart to ask for forgiveness of my sins and accept you as my lord and saviour, please forgive me of all my sin (you can begin to name them if you know them) I surrender my life to you and i want you to come and take full charge over my life and i accept you as my lord and my saviour, please cleanse me with your blood that you shed on the cross and make me a new man leaving old things behind, I promise to serve you and do your will at all time and i ask for the strength to carry on. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me.
