During the last sermon, we talked about the topic "The Account of life" to learn and understand how situations and phenomenon of life becomes an open account, merit or demerit, which must have to be settled knowingly or unknowingly either in this world or the one to come. This also related to generational account which determines how a man has lived his life on this planet and which is fully control by nature [God].

Preamble:

This week, we shall be looking at the topic "Love, a two edge sword" to see how this easily affects our livelihood even as a child of God because the one to whom the father really loves, He also chastises to become a tool in His hand. Generally, Love is one of the sweetest and greatest things in life but it is also the most dangerous as it can easily becomes a property of your soul which therefore determines your actions and it is only God that can help mend the hurt aspect not to be too destructive. Please sit back and enjoy this great lecture that will change your life forever.

Introduction:

Love is a natural phenomenon which usually generate or degenerates through mutual behavior and understanding, it comes with great enthusiasm and affection, it is dependable, honest, and spiritual for it is unseen. It is sacrificial because it involves a sensational giving. It could also be dangerous when hurt because of the high nature of enthusiasm involved for when the sweetness of a thing is removed, what will be left is bitterness. But above all, God is love and His principles stand sure and aligned accordingly [1 John 4: 7-12]. God is present whenever you love or show love especially when it is not done for personal gain but to help others except for carnal things and desires which only aligned with devilish principles.

The scripture above [1 John 4: 7-12] says that “dear friend, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us, He sent His one and only son into world that we may live through Him. This is love, not that we love God but that He love us and sent His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friend since God so loved us we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us”.

Beloved, God is love just as we have read above and anyone who love, have God dwelling in them, but what are we to love? Of course, we are to love God and ourselves and not the world or carnal things of the world for this is not from God but from the world and which are all going to pass away [1 John 2: 15-17]. Love is spiritual because it is unseen and is able to bring down stronghold as it becomes a property of the soul which therefore determines your action. This is why the first and greatest commandments of God out of many says that “love the lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind” according to [Matthew 22: 36-37]. 

Loving can be godly or ungodly which means that the devil also can love because he is born of God until iniquity was found in him [Ezekiel 28: 12-15], as the scripture above [1 John 4: 7-9] made us understand that whoever love is born of God because God is love but the love being engage from the devil to his own dear followers is to kill, steal, and destroy [John 10: 10] and which is usually hidden in his good package and desire toward them because when the devil realizes that his prey or target is a stubborn type, he can give riches or the good things of life to quickly have his soul and destroy him. 

Another form of satanic love that is prevalent within our society and which the devil uses as a trap is the love for the thing of the world: money, woman, and properties and which is why the book of [1 John 2: 15-17] made a good cautioning and which says “love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever”

However, God is the God of principles and He set his rules according to His wishes, character and love and if any man deviates from it, there comes judgment after the period of grace which will be released in proportion to His love because those the father loves dearly, he also chastised dearly [Hebrew 12: 6]. Like I said above, love is very painful when is being hurt because of the high nature of the enthusiasm involve and like you know when the sweet part of a thing is removed, the remainder will only be the bitter part. This is also applicable to loving principles whether godly or ungodly. 

This therefore tell us that though loving experience is sweet but also has a very dangerous experience when is being hurt which forms the two edge of the sword because love is like a sword which is able to penetrate even deeper stronghold but there is one thing to note, and that is for love to be sweeter and stronger it must have a backing of a deity either God or Satan who are the once that will propel the sensational reliability because according to our scripture above which says that God is love and whoever love is born of God and like you know that everything that God had created has His DNA, even Satan, because he was created by God and which give him [Satan] the ability to be able to influence your loving experience toward carnal things based on the power available to him from the beginning [Ezekiel 28: 12-15].

Satan can influence your love experience as we have read above towards the carnal things of the world through the flesh and this is why you see that people are very obsessed with the love for the things of the world and if eventually they repent and submit wholeheartedly to God, he will be very furious to trying to make sure they regret their action or frustrates most of their plan but because they now dwell under the shadow of the greater one, his plans will all failed [Psalm 91: 1].

God is the supreme and He also can influence your love experience to a greater degree to suit His desire because the bible says God is love as we have read above. He can turn the heart of kings or your enemy as he wishes even to go against themselves because He control the loving nature of man since He is love bearing in mind also that love becomes a properties of your soul [Proverb 21: 1, proverb 3: 3].

The scripture above [proverb 21: 1] tell us that “the king’s heart is in the hand of the lord, as the river of water, he rurneth it whithersoever”. We also remembered when three nations of the earth [Ammonite, Moabaite and Mount seir] came to war against the children of Israelite [Judah and Jerusalem ] that the lord set the three nations to fight themselves instead and all have themselves destroyed without the one to whom they have come to fight touching them [2 Chronicles 20: 1-30]. Beloved, God is the supreme indeed, He control the loving nature of man because He is love and this means that if a man therefore allow God to be the centre of his or her relationship, He makes all things good for those who love him and He is the one that can add the necessary ingredient to the love of man and make that broken relationship good and fantastic again. I pray that even as you read this over and allow God comes into your heart, may He do that which only Him can do and restore your love respectively even in your marriage, homes, and relationship in Jesus name.       

Our bible text [Hebrew 12: 6-9] tell us that “for whom the father loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receive. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us and we gave them reverence, shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the father of spirits and lives. For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own plessure but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness”

However, the level of chastisement from God in every individual differ base on God love in them. Though God is love and He love us dearly as His creatures but there are those that the father set on a major assignment and given more of ability and grace and as such they becomes the apple of His eyes and therefore carry more of fathers love and grace and like you know that to whom much is given much is expected and so, if they failed or refuse to do as plan, God can raise a more harsh discipline on them even than those with lower grace but only after a justified period, which then made us understand that the level of God’s love or grace in an individual is also proportionate to his side of discipline, just as we have learnt above that love is more dangerous when is being hurt. 

When God loves a man, such individual should also prepare for his side of chastisement because the road may not be smooth at all times but because God is involve and if he duly allow Him [God] to be the centre point then safety is assured, and likewise when a man is in love, even in the secular world, he should also prepare for the other edge of the sword because where God is not involve the devil takes cheap advantage and he has no other business than to steal, kill and destroy your glory and trust me, one of these must happen to the individual either in this world or the one to come. Let’s look at some cases in the bible where God has proclaimed his great love for man and also chastised him greatly.

1. Moses:  [Numbers 12: 3-15, Numbers 20: 8-12, Deuteronomy 3: 23-28]

This is one of the great prophet of God in which God has used greatly and mightily to deliver the children of Israelite from their captivity in Egypt. The man to whom God had deeply proclaimed His love for, that He [God] speak to His prophets in dream and visions but to this man, he speak to him face to face like man speak themselves because he has found him to be the most humble under the face of the earth but when this same man sin and does not glorify God out of anger by the water meribah, God proclaimed judgment on Him immediately that he will not get to the land which he is leading the Israelites to enter even after his pleading.

2. David:  [2 Samuel  7: 15-16, 2 Samuel 12: 7-15]

This is another great prophet of God to whom God had used mightily. We also see how God proclaim his love for him by making a promise to him His [God] love shall not depart from him and that his household and kingdom shall be established before Him [God] forever but when David sin to commit adultery with Bathsheba and still go ahead for her husband to be killed in war front, God gave him an everlasting curse that because he has done this, sword will never depart from his household.

Conclusion:

We have read from above how love can be good and be dangerous when hurt and that those who love already accept the responsibility of the dangerous part because one way or the other it will come but the only way to avoid damages when hurt is to allow Christ to be the centre point of your relationship so he can mediate between you and your love. We also learnt that every love is propelled by a deity either God or Satan toward their desire and that we should allow God be the bases of our love so that success will be assured in this world and the one to come. May the lord give you the grace as you struggle to live up to this in Jesus name. 

Confession: If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour and you are convinced that you need him to come into your life so you can also tap into the grace available through shedding of his blood, and equally partake of the effectiveness of his wrath and the blessing that comes with it, and that you are sure, you are ready to repent from all those sin of fornication, adultery, lying, sexual immorality, pride, jealousy, hatred, idolatry, selfish ambition, witchcraft, impurity and debauchery, dissensions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and the likes, then locate a quiet place, be sober and be on your knees, and make this little confession but remember to be sure of what you are doing, so that you will not be using God to play, when you respect him and give him honour, he will also honour you in the sight of men (Matthew 6: 6).

Lord Jesus, i come with total humbleness of heart to ask for forgiveness of my sins and accept you as my lord and saviour, please forgive me of all my sin (you can begin to name them if you know them) I surrender my life to you and i want you to come and take full charge over my life and i accept you as my lord and my saviour, please cleanse me with your blood that you shed on the cross and make me a new man leaving old things behind, I promise to serve you and do your will at all time and i ask for the strength to carry on. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me.
