Recap of last week Sermon:

During the last sermon, we talked about the topic "Life, a battle of the spirits” in other to deepen our knowledge in God on spiritual matters and therefore mobilize enough courage towards spiritual warfare. Man, which forms the major purpose on this planet, is a spiritual material to which God had only used to execute His purpose of creation and therefore, the world is a composition of spiritual beings which are only meant to serve the purpose of spiritual affair since God the creator is a spirit.

Preamble: 

This week, we shall be looking at the topic "The Account of life" to learn and understand how situations and phenomenon of life becomes an open account, merit or demerit, which must have to be settled knowingly or unknowingly either in this world or the one to come. This also related to generational account which determines how a man has lived his life on this planet and which is fully control by nature [God]. Please sit back and enjoy this great lecture that will change your life forever.

Introduction:

The account of life is one which is liable of being carried over even till next generation so as to settle its course [Exodus 20: 5-6]. Account as we all know involve comparing two cogent but opposite variables which could therefore result to merit or demerit, this is also synonymous to spiritual principles as regards God’s  judgment and understanding.

In our previous sermon, we define life to be the struggle of passing through this world and is still apply. When a man is going through struggle in some areas of life, so many things unexpected could befall him because struggle is more or less a fight between two sources especially when the sources have adequate power over what is being fought for. In life, we strive or contend to live up to our taste or standard in all things we do especially in the area of basic amenities and requirements but the question is ‘what do we struggle with?’. As we all know, we struggle with nature and unseen forces trying to restrain our desire either from God or Satan. I pray that the lord grant you the ability to live above this struggle in Jesus name.

When God proclaimed curses upon mankind [Genesis 3: 17-19] because of their misdeed of partaking of the forbidden tree as we have read in our last sermon [Genesis 2: 17], it becomes a natural law because God himself is the nature and a curse is meant to be a limitation which therefore limit or restrict the desire of mankind. Take for instance, in the scripture above [Genesis 3: 17-19 KJV], God said to Adam “because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, thou shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake, in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life. Thorns also and thistle shall it bring forth to thee and thou shalt eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground, for out of it was thou taken, for dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return”.

We see that from the scripture above that God himself proclaimed a curse on the struggle of man on this earth till He [man] return to dust where he was taken from BUT Jesus Christ had laid down His life to be a curse for you so that when you receive Him and submit to Him you will not be under the curse of the law again but under His grace [Galatians 3: 10-14] and that grace is sufficient even to carry you through this present world and the one to come up till a thousand generation [Exodus 20: 5-6].

Another second factor as stated above that we struggle with is unseen forces which restrict our desire or aim in life. God or Satan can cause a road block for our personal desire in life to suit their own interest because of the ability or the degree to which they can influence us. There are certain instances where God might personally restrain you either to protect you from achieving a dangerous course or to make sure His plan come to pass but whatsoever it is, God’s desire is always to give you an expected end, especially when you belong to Him [Jeremiah 29: 11] but the devil has no other business than to steal, kill and destroy [John 10: 10] and in every of your desire, he is always there to restrain you except the desire is in line with his business of destruction and except this the devil will never be tire of stealing from you.

However, as we continue in this act of struggling for survival of the fittest, we encounter many circumstances or challenges of life within our quest either in the area of marriage, shelter, feeding, business, children and so on and sometimes get entangled that it will take God to deliver us but bearing in mind that all these quest or circumstances or challenges of life that we encounter and that we are meant to walk over the hurdles open up an account with God, you and humanity to which God is the judge and which we are to account for. And so, whatever we do in life knowingly or unknowingly will definitely initiate an account, either merit or demerit which is going to determine the success or failure of such quest or process and this is capable of being carried over when failed or not succeeded.

Take for instance, a man that got a job in other to meet up his family responsibility, or the one planning to build a house for comfort, or planning for a wife or children and so on are all initiating an account with God as the one that oversea the affairs of man [Psalm 14: 2] and that will judge all man for his or her action [Revelation 22: 11-13] and also to humanity as every dealing between man involve man to man relationship and this is where the devil usually stand to find whom he can accuse or otherwise claim as his own. This account for all individuals becomes a starting point for God’s judgment and likewise the point of accusing the brethren which the devil will never stop doing [Revelation 12: 10]. Sometimes so many believer and even upright unbeliever find themselves in a tight corner where the situation surrounding their circumstance is very unfavorable and may not allow them perform their duty of being excellent to God in their area of endeavors.

The survival over the struggle or hurdles of going through this challenges or circumstances of life usually generate a demerit or merit account which comes from our ability or inability to observe the principles of God over the process and within man to man relationship. We see the case of king Solomon where his son is automatically waiting to incurs the misdeed of his father because God was displeased by the demerit of his father account in the area of idolatry [1 King 11: 9-12]. Beloved, it is of high importance to strive in everything we do that we are not the one to be blame for this usually generate a merit account before God and against humanity so that our generation to come can equally partake of the blessing of such account with God [Romans 8: 28-30].

The bible text above [Exodus 20: 5-6] tell us that “thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them, for I the lord thy God I’m a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the father upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. And showing mercy unto thousand of them that love me and keep my commandments”

The bible verse above makes us understand that God in His discretion can visit the sin which serve as the demerit of an individual’s account even on their children up to four generations to come but also capable of showing mercy up to a thousand generations of them that loves Him and keeps His commandments. This also tells us that whatsoever things we do or engaged in, has a way of impacting on the unborn generations as God usually shows mercy to the children of those who diligently walked with Him and obey Him totally. Like I said above, the way and manner we relate with one another in everything we do, has the ability of generating a merit or demerit account with which God is the chief judge and which also has the ability of impacting your unborn generations either positively or negatively. Let’s now look at some spiritual and physical benefit or implication of a merit or demerit account:

Godly destiny: [Romans 8: 28-30]

Just as we read above that God show mercy on those that love Him and do His will even up to a thousand generations to come and so, a merit account is an account of godly destiny to which God select out of many for His own purpose and eventually compensate them even with more value and honor, just like your earthly father will appreciate you for a job well done. We remember the case of our lord Jesus Christ when He submit Himself as a sheep to be slaughter for mankind that God raise Him above all principalities and power that at the name of Jesus, every kneel shall bow and every tongue confess that He is lord, of thing under the earth, on the earth and in heaven [Philippians 2: 9-10]. This is exactly how God perfectly reward every of His faithful servant whom have diligently obey Him totally to generate a merit account for themselves.

The scripture above [Romans 8: 28-30] tell us that “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose, for those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his son that he might be the first born among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called, those he called, he also justified, those he justified, he also glorified”

We can deduce from the above that to them that God foreknew by reason of their merit account He called and those He called, He predestined to be conformed to the image of His dear loving son [Jesus Christ] and be the first born among many brother and sister. Another thing to note here is that those He predestine, He justify from all query of life, and also glorify them to His own honor even in the world to come. Now we see that it is worthwhile and a thing of generational goodie to diligently acquire a merit account for God in all we do here on this planet to fulfill God’s purpose and also have a justified ground for humanity. I pray that the lord will help you to live up to this level of exploit in Jesus name.

Ungodly destiny:

We also read from our bible text [Exodus 20: 5-6] of how God visit the iniquity of the father on the children even till four generations to come as a form of penalty for disobeying Him [God]. This will also serve as a destiny but within the coordinate of satanic agenda and which God will not support or be involve and where God is not present the devil takes the lordship and decide on the oppression of the oppressed. May this not be your portion in Jesus name.

However as the individual continue in the act of generating a demerit account, this will be added and piling up for him and a time will come when the wrath of God will compel a judgment even here on earth but nevertheless if the individual still persist or eventually turn from his wicked way then the lord could have mercy but his deed will be such that it will generate a balance to nullify the effect of the demerit account for it is written according to [Galatians 6: 7] “be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” 

The scripture above [Revelation 22: 11-13] tell us that “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still, and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still, and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last”

Brethren, for there is nothing hiding to God, even the smallest deed you could imagine, He is aware and He is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth, that he shall also reap. Though God will forgive you and have mercy on you when you come to Him for help but your deed aftermath will be such to balance your account unless a proper restitution is duly done. I pray the lord will open your spiritual eyes so you will appreciate generating a merit account for God at all time in Jesus name. 

Conclusion:

Now that you are aware of the spiritual and physical implication of generating a demerit account to God, why not take a redress and do proper restitution if need be so that your demerit account will not be standing against you at all time even while in Christ and therefore secure the future of yourself, your children and your unborn generations to come. The lord bless you as you obey.

Confession: 

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and saviour and you are convinced that you need him to come into your life so you can also tap into the grace available through shedding of his blood, and equally partake of the effectiveness of his wrath and the blessing that comes with it, and that you are sure, you are ready to repent from all those sin of fornication, adultery, lying, sexual immorality, pride, jealousy, hatred, idolatry, selfish ambition, witchcraft, impurity and debauchery, dissensions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and the likes, then locate a quiet place, be sober and be on your knees, and make this little confession but remember to be sure of what you are doing, so that you will not be using God to play, when you respect him and give him honour, he will also honour you in the sight of men (Matthew 6: 6).

Lord Jesus, i come with total humbleness of heart to ask for forgiveness of my sins and accept you as my lord and saviour, please forgive me of all my sin (you can begin to name them if you know them) I surrender my life to you and i want you to come and take full charge over my life and i accept you as my lord and my saviour, please cleanse me with your blood that you shed on the cross and make me a new man leaving old things behind, I promise to serve you and do your will at all time and i ask for the strength to carry on. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me.
